Tri-County Rescue
Who would have guessed that Jake’s would become neighbors to the largest regional animal shelter, situated right down the road from our new location? Within the first month we opened in Boca Raton, we helped Tri-County Humane celebrate its 30th anniversary!
TC Humane Society was created in 1996 as a 100% no-kill shelter. Within its first 4 years, it re-homed over 5000 dogs & cats. The rescue was growing so quickly, the women decided to take private the animal shelter in Boca Raton. They vowed to keep it a no-kill facility, and they continued to expand to accommodate more rescues.
Over the last decade, the Tri-County team has expanded its efforts even further by rescuing dogs displaced after 2 hurricanes in Puerto Rico. A low-cost pet clinic, named after philanthropist Lois Pope, opened in 2019 to provide low-cost medical treatment and spay/neuter services.
Tri-County recently announced plans for expanding their facility further so that they can positively impact even more pets. It takes a small village to run everything: there are over 30 team members and 150 volunteers. In addition to running things at the main campus, the staff works with several local organizations as well as the local school district to educate the community about animal awareness.
The Tri-County Humane Society serves Broward Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach Counties.
